Sykes Transport are very proud to have hosted the first business after hours function on the 2016 Kalgoorlie Chamber of Commerce and Industry social calendar. The evening was an outstanding success with over 150 representatives from across the business community attending the event, all enjoying an evening in the impressive brand new Sykes Transport Kalgoorlie facility.
In an article published by the Kalgoorlie Miner, Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive, Hugh Gallagher said that the investment made by Sykes Transport would stimulate confidence in local business.
“Cash is king, but confidence is everything in business and it is infectious,” he said. “Others will now be more comfortable to invest or consider investing in the Goldfields.”
While Sykes Transport has had an historical association with Kalgoorlie over many years, the new purpose built facility will provide a new level of logistical service capacity to all in the Goldfields area. The Kalgoorlie distribution centre is located in the new industrial development of Broadwood (West Kalgoorlie), and consists of 9,000 square meters of land as well as a purpose built 1200 square meter under cover warehouse facility. With “Street to Street” access the site is ideally designed to take advantage of main roads triple road train route. The undercover warehousing facility allows Sykes Transport to receive, offload and dispatch goods to all of its clients across the Goldfields region on a daily basis in any weather conditions.
Having a regular ongoing association with valued key clients such as Chememan (for whom Sykes Transport operates logistical, warehousing and distribution services), affords the company a baseline load and hence a level of versatility to adjust daily loading to ensure those critical items are delivered to our increasingly varied clientele every day.
Sykes Transport Managing Director David Sykes says that the new facility will enable Sykes Transport to provide an unrivalled level of service and reliability to the region with a guaranteed daily delivery service.
The Sykes Transport business management systems, anchored by full third party certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 accreditation, provides the companies clients with a level of assurance, that no doubt their own clients in turn would expect from their supply chain.
Having a local presence in Kalgoorlie (to support the companies Kewdale headquarters), Sykes Transport is very proud to be associated with community events such as the chambers sundowner and has grown its local presence over many years on a philosophy of community involvement and buying local wherever possible.
Sykes Transport would greatly appreciate the support of other local companies in the region and would love the opportunity to help them with their logistical requirements.
